Spring is in the air as things green-up around us and everyone seems more than happy to put this tough winter behind! It also means allergy season is right around the corner. Time to change that furnace filter (and perhaps consider an air cleaner if the sneezing begins). It’s also a good time to put new batteries in the smoke detector to avoid the annoying beep reminding you to do so.
Our technicians are in full swing with preseason air conditioner tune-ups, so be sure to call sooner rather than later to schedule yours! If we happen to get an early heat wave before you have a chance to schedule your tune-up, at least remember to change the filter. Dirty filters are one of the main causes of system malfunctions. Now would also be a good time to adjust your dampers from the winter settings to summer, allowing the cold air to flow upstairs (we explained this in our March 2013 newsletter, linked here for reference).
We are beginning an upgrade of our show room this month, which will include displays to help our customers better understand how their home’s heating, cooling and comfort systems work, in addition to showcasing the latest advances in home comfort. Because we’d love to see you, anyone stopping into our showroom will receive a 1” replacement filter at no charge. Please stop by and say “Hi!”
Here are some additional tips to keep in mind for your spring-cleaning:
- Clean Gutters: Make sure your gutters are cleaned prior to heading into this somewhat rainy season. If you are looking to hire a company to do this, make sure they are credible, experienced and insured.
- Fireplace: Fingers crossed that we are coming upon a time when your fireplace will no longer be in use, close the fireplace damper if you are done with it for the season.
- Outdoor faucets: Turn the outside faucets on to ensure that all is still in working condition after this harsh winter.
- Landscape equipment: In with the new, out with the old! Be sure to change the oil in your lawn mower and drain oil out of the snow blower
Thanks again for making Jennings Heating and Cooling your “Home Team” comfort specialists. Have a great spring!

P.S. We discussed the new Hot Water Tank Regulations in our February newsletter, and the Akron Beacon Journal has posted an article about this which features one of our installations; check it out here!
