I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving! In the spirit of giving and thanks, let me say “hats off to you!” for coming through for those in need last month during our “Long Haul against Hunger” drive. Your efforts, combined with those of our staff, resulted in a total collection of 642 cans of food-and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will be doubling all donations! We’d like to extend a big thanks to WKDD as well for sponsoring the program and to Carol Sweitzer, Sales Coordinator, Jennings Heating, for championing this project.

Another charitable giving effort that we are glad to be part of is “Milk & Honey Ministries,” headquartered in Akron. One of our fine technicians, Jeff Smith, volunteers his time serving as a minister for Milk & Honey and preaches to those who attend. He and his wife Karen serve up to 100 hot meals as well as supply clothes to those who are in need on any given Sunday. Milk & Honey is always in need of winter clothing items (sweaters, coats, gloves, etc.) so if you or anyone you know has clothing they would like to donate to this life saving organization there is a bin located in our office where these items can be dropped off.

Though we are sure to keep you nice and warm this coming season, winter is just around the corner. With that in mind, below is some interesting trivia fitting for this time of year:

  • The coldest temperature ever recorded in Ohio was in Gallipolis on February 10th 1899 at -39 degrees.
  • The most snow fall of any winter occurred in the 2004-2005 period with 117.9 inches
  • The chances of snow on any given December day in Akron, Ohio is 30%
  • The worst snow storm ever recorded occurred in 1978. This blizzard, known as the blizzard of ’78, still holds many records throughout the state of Ohio.

“Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:10-11

From all of us at Jennings to all of you, have blessed and Merry Christmas.

Mike Foraker, President, Jennings Heating Company
